Fibrebot: Design and Fabrication
There is a growing need for sophisticated micro-instruments integrated with imaging, sensing, and robotic assistance for micro-surgical tasks. This talk will cover different designs of continuum robots across scales and address some of the fundamental issues in modelling, fabrication, and kinematic control. More specifically, micro-nano fabrication and characterisation techniques related to a new family of continuum robots – Fibrebots will be discussed. It will demonstrate how integrated imaging, sensing and manipulation of the Fibrebot can be achieved at a cellular level.
