Amoeba-type cell-sized molecular robot
We constructed an amoeba-like molecular robot capable of expressing continuous shape change in response to specific signal molecules. The robot includes molecular motors and the control device (molecular clutch) in the body. Engaging/disengaging the clutch shows the robot start/stop the continuous shape change. We are expecting that this research provides a platform for constructing increasingly complex and functional molecular systems with controllable motility.
